Bleh, getting performance experience

For these few weeks that i haven't blogged, i spent practicing songs on my guitar.
As i told you in my last post, i am now going to perform Demi Lovato - This is Me.
And after a great debate with my friends, our next song will be Hey Monday - Should've Tried Harder.
I am going to have to change the key of Should've tried harder coz i cant reach the high notes, but with This is Me I can just reach it.

I'll see if i can get a friend to take pictures when we perform in front of the whole school next week. This is so exciting! Me and two other friends are going to perform to 1200 people, a huge crowd.
Well then, back to practicing!
Cya soon.

P.S We don't have a band name yet. Suggestions?

School Life

Wow. School's been busy. I haven't blogged in a week.
Well, let me fill you in on everything's that happened.

Debating.
I did it last year. dont know if i'll do it again this year.
Reasons why i want to: more experience in oral speeches, practice for being a lawyer or public speaker
Reasons why i dont: too much to research, 6 minute speeches, i'm always 3rd speaker

I dont know. We were deciding ona team but like...noone wanted to do all 5 debates. i'm doing 4, my friend's doing 3, another friend is doing 2, and another hasn't decided. I think i should be fine. My friend's fretting over if it will afect her studying for mid-terms or not coz all of us including her have got VCE subjects.

Okay, now funny stuff. You had to be there for it to be funny.
We had a sub for forensic science and she didnt know how to turn the fans on. We were in a science room. She push the button for the "air pressure sucker" thingy that was going through the top of our classroom and into the next. It made a horrible noise. It sounded like it was starting up a time-machine or a missile soaring to its target. Whatever it sounded like, it sounded scary and retarted. The teacher was so freaked out. lol. then the lab technician next door came out angrily and was like..."what are you trying to do?" the teacher was like.."umm, trying to turn the fans on." -_-" the lab tech had to turn/fix the fans from a switchboard inside the storage lab.
Okay. the fans worked. We wanted it to be turned on higher. So she goes and turns it down... Then a guy from our class gets up and walks up to the fan controllers and stands there, imitating the teacher.

(He points his finger towards the "air sucker" thing and imitates the air sucker noise.) it was so damn funny. Everyone was cracking up. lol. good times.

VET Music Industry
We had to perform to the class. I sang. I'm not a godly singer and so my heart was beating at 180bmp whilst i was sitting at the piano with my friend getting ready to sing. It was so scary. The teacher was like "you're gonna sing?" and i'm like yeh. and then these 2 girls: "she can sing? kya kya hah a ha ha snort"
me: "oooommmmmmmmmmmgggg...."
Their words and laughter were not very encouraging. But i managed to do okay... well, since my heart was going 180bmp, i was shaking like a seizure attack patient. Literally. My singing came out more vibrato than average. My voice already is vibrato, i dont need it shaking anymore...

After that, our next task is to pick a song, improve on it and maybe perform it. I don't know what song to choose yet but I have 2 in mind.
one is Open by Demi Lovato and the other is beautiful disaster by kelly clarkson. Big chance i will choose kelly clarkson coz my friend only knows how to play piano... and my skills at singing and playing guitar at the same time isn't good enough yet. But..yeh i will need to change the key of the song to suit my voice tho. I have a low voice. :D

Well, that's all for now. More random funny stuff will definately be blogged up in later days!! gnite.

CNY in the City of Melbourne

Chinatown!!!

I went to the city today & found myself in China town with about 10,000(<--estimated & exaggerated...) other asians & tourists. Why so many people? Coz it there was a celebration for CNY. Many shops were busy, either with too many customers or with lion dances and firecrackers.
Here a shop gets ready for the lion dancers with a hanging lettuce and 3 fricken metres of firecrackers.

This was the first shop I saw & boy did it attract a crowd. There were people watching from both sides of the street. The shop was a sushi shop if anyone wanted to know...

There was so much people crowding around the shop that there had to be police officers on the road telling people to move up(squish yourself into the crowd) so that the trams could go through.

This is the chinese dragon.

The writing in the picture says: "The chinese dragon that we couldn't be bothered waiting for coz it was so damn far away.

There were also stalls around crown, along the Yarra river.

There were performances of chinese instruments, kung fu, tai chi, noodle making & many more.

This was a "Gu Zheng"(chinese instrument) performance.

& i can't be bothered writing anymore coz i have my first day of school tomorrow. Everyone have a good day :)

too hot...too HOT!

holy fricken, it was 45 degrees celcius yesterday!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
& guess what happened, the electricity was cut, there was a blackout. First, me & my sis thought that it was just our house, so we went outside to the fusebox. We flicked the switch for electricity but when we did the electricity didn't turn back on, so we called up our parents to tell them & then we sat in the lounge because there was nothing better to do and there was no air con.

How was your day yesterday?

It is 43 degrees celcius today. I sincerly hope that there will not be another blackout. The one yesterday lasted for about 1 1/2 hours, but still! Stuck inside a house that has no air con & can't open windows coz the temp is hotter outside than inside is deadly!!!

It's global warming...

^picture drawn by me :D

Summer, in Australia, is hot. Especially now that global warming is getting worse, summer is gonna get hotter. I wonder how we will cope with this heat when we get back to school...some of our classrooms don't even have an a/c! Umm, well, they could've renovated it on the hols, so i dunno if its still like that or not. Everyone' s gonna be like dead fish in classrooms whenever the temp. reaches 38 degrees +. It's 8 in the morning & its already like 30 degrees celcius!!! Uhhhhhhh. This whole week's temp. are all in the high 30's and low 40's!
I've got sport coaching as one of my school electives...I'll probably get fried if it's in semester 1. T_T Sunburn here i come.
I'm bored and it's hot. I get lazy when it's hot. I already am lazy when it isn't. Heat just makes it worse. :o At least I finished my reading on one of my english books. It's called Of Mice & Men. Anyone read it before? I reackon it was alright, not too boring.
the other book I also have to read is Romeo & Juliet...it seems okay but I can't really understand the words that they use coz it's all.."unmodern".
Anyway, I think I'll go back to lazing about before school starts in 4 days. Cyaa!

CNY Food & Decorations

Last night's dinnerwas sooooo good :D
We had lettuce, mushrooms, fish, prawn, lotus root soup,

Stewed Mushrooms over blanched lettuce leaves

Prawn and Broccoli

Raw Salmon/Salmon Sashimi with wasabi&soy sauce dip

These specific types of food were eaten because their names are homonyms(same sounding words) with other words such as wealth, prosperity, luck...etc.

Here are some more decorations. Flowers for idunno what...& new year candies/treats/snacks

Flowers - i think they're called carnations...& there is a random red one in the bunch as well.

Chinese new year candies/treats/snacks - the red lollies are meant to resemble red pockets/packets & are strawberry flavoured. The round thing in the middle is a new year cake. It is made with glutinous rice & is sticky and sweet. The chinese character on the cake says luck. When it is placed upside down-like it already is-it means to welcome luck or luck is here.

& oranges - again, i don't know what this stands for, but my family does this every year & it is stacked the same each year. 3 oranges on the bottom & 1 on top in the middle.

& as you can see in the photos, the plates/lollies/flower are red. Red = happy. Tomorrow is Chinese New Year!

Mandarin

Xin Nian Quai Le! Gong Xi Fa Chai, Li Si Dao Lai.
新年快乐! 祝你财富。 给我红包。

Cantonese

Sun Nien Fai Lok! Kung Hei Faat Choi, Lei Si Dau Loi.
新年快乐! 祝你财富。 给我红包。

English

Happy new year! Wishing you wealth. Give me red pocket. :D
